A little about me...
About Carolyn Kent MSc MCSP SRP BSc (Hons)
Senior Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist and Sport Scientist
Carolyn is our Senior Specialist Physiotherapist and is an experienced clinician working with athletes and the general public.
A former Under 16 and Under 20 international football player; Carolyn’s ability and love of football earned her a place with W-League semi-professional side ‘The New Jersey Wildcats’ and then a 4 year scholarship to the ‘College of Charleston’ in South Carolina. During this time she qualified as a Sports Scientist.
Carolyn’s path into physiotherapy was in part guided by her own experience of injury when she broke her leg. After recovering from this and unfortunately in her first competitive game back she ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and underwent surgery and 12 months of rehabilitation. A 2 year total absence from the game gave her a unique insight of the patient’s experience of rehabilitation. It is this experience which drives her to ensure her patients’ are treated holistically and with the highest quality care available.
Since qualifying in 2009 Carolyn has remained heavily involved in many sports especially football. She has worked with a number of football Clubs including SPFL teams Dumberton F.C and Cowedenbath F.C as well working with the Heart of Midlothian Football Academy and Bonnyrigg Rose and also rugby Clubs.
On top of this, she is also the Physiotherapist for Scotland Womens Under 19’s Football team, leading the treatment, recovery and pitch side startegies.
She is a member of many organisations including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine and the Association of Orthopaedic Chartered Physiotherapists and as she has a specialist interest in Strength and Conditioning she is contununiing her post graduate studies towards the UKSCA certificate.
When she’s not involved in physiotherapy Carolyn is a keen surfer, snowboarder, mountain biker and is also an International Footgolf player and a member of the successful United Kingdom team who beat the USA and reatined the Janson cup at Celtic Manor in 2019.
